Those Who Tend The Earth Stay Connected To It
The connection between the human soul and the soil grows deep within us all. It is a connection that cannot be severed by time or illness. Again and again, we’ve seen our residents “bloom” with interest and excitement when they join “Farmer Roy,” our Director of Horticulture, in tending our facility’s five organic gardens, two fruit tree orchards, memorial rose garden, and greenhouse.
Our gardens take center stage in multiple unique programs that we offer, allowing our residents to make connections with the soil, with new people, and with their own history of gardening and horticulture. The 20,000+ pounds of organic product that our residents harvest often end up on the dinner plate, completing an educational, fulfilling, and yummy cycle each year.
